ABOUT THE FOUNDER

R. Michael McWhorter (Mike) was born in Richmond, Virginia in 1976. He moved to South Florida at the age of three, the mojority of his life spent in West Palm Beach.

In 2000 he married his highschool sweetheart Heidi, and became a film student at Palm Beach Community College.

P.B.C.C. gave Mike access to a vast array of film making equipment that otherwise would not have been avaliable to him. He used this opportunity to make, and edit his first non-linear short, " Encore" a thriller pitting a hardned police officer against a twisted Serial Murderer. This was a great learning experience and preparred him for his first forray into filmmaking for competition, and mass public veiwing. The result, the now award winning short, " The Elevator" which took 3rd place at the 2002 Palm Beach International Film Festival, junior college division.

He has since writen, directed and produced several other award winning shorts such as "Intersection" which took 1st place at the 2003 PBIFF, and went on to be optioned into a high definition feature film "Redemption" which premiered at the 2004 PBIFF.

In 2003 Michael and his wife Heidi moved to Charlotte, North carolina so that she might attend school there. He has continued writing and directing both short and feature film projects as well as music videos and has several productions in the works. "Charlotte is like another world compared to South Florida. There almost couldn't be a more drastic difference in locals and Charlotte and the state of North Carloina in general is nothing short of inspirational. I can't wait to shoot more here."
